You can unstuff the archive to any folder on your hard disk. MRJ 1.5 must be installed before you attempt to run HVS Animator (see below). HVS ColorGIF 2.0 users will find detailed instructions on using Animator with ColorGIF in the HVS Animator manual, included in HTML format. For your convenience, a copy of the HVS ColorGIF manual is included and linked from the Animator manual.
About Java
----------
HVS Animator is written in 100% Java. Java requires a shareable runtime library to be able to run applications on a given computer. HVS Animator/Mac was built with Apple's Java runtime, Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) version 1.5. If you don't have MRJ 1.5 on your system you MUST install it for HVS Animator to work. You can download MRJ from the following URL:
Apple is currently testing MRJ 2.0, a totally new runtime that conforms to the Java 1.1 spec. We've tested Animator with the latest early release of MRJ, 2.0ea7, and found no major problems, but until MRJ 2.0 is final we cannot guarantee that Animator will work properly with any version of MRJ later than 1.5.
HVS Animator Pro
----------------
Included in this package is demo that will allow you to try all the features of HVS Animator Pro for 15 days. After the trial period you can re-enable the advanced optimization features in HVS Animator by purchasing HVS Animator Pro. Click on the Register button, and a dialog box will come up with your serial number. You must pay your $79 registration fee ($49 for registered HVS ColorGIF users) and receive an unlocking key -- after entering the key, the additional features will be enabled. You can get your unlocking key by email (info@digfrontiers.com) by phone (847-328-0880), or at our secure web server ( http://www.digfrontiers.com/unlock.html ).
Known Problems
--------------
MRJ 1.5 doesn't allow applications to move windows programmatically. When HVS Animator comes up, the Preview and Main Editing Windows will both be located in the upper left corner of the screen, and you'll have to move them manually. This problem has been addressed in MRJ 2.0, and should disappear when it goes final.
Support
-------
Technical Support questions ONLY should be posted on the support board on the Digital Frontiers web site. Customer service issues should be handled via email or phone as specified above. Please let us know what features you'd like to see in the product -- this will strongly influence how we prioritize our development tasks. Thank you and enjoy animating.
